Age: 45
Hometown: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Age You Started Running: Probably around 11 months. Oh like seriously, High School Junior year after getting cut from the baseball team. Nothing over 400m until the Army made me start running 2 miles.
Favorite Things Outside of Running:Hanging with the family. Traveling. Fishing. Blackfoot and Double Haul IPA.
Favorite Race or Run: I had Blue Mountain 30K penciled in before last week however the recent run across the Bob Marshall may have topped them all.
Words of Wisdom: I think you have to help yourself before you can help others. As most of us around here know, exercise (and running in particular) is a secret to life. It makes you a better human.
Favorite Quote: “Run like the whales.” My daughter Madeleine, age 4 at the time, said this to me before I ran my first 50 mile race. Fun to analyze that one.
Anything Else You’d Like to Add: I’ve lived in few cool places like Tucson, Fort Collins, etc. and traveled a bit. There’s something special going on here in Missoula. Running solo is much needed sometimes but it’s the adventures with friends and family that count the most. So a big shout out to my running family which includes my wife Jami, daughters Grace and Maddie, the craziest ultra-running attorneys on the planet at GLR and inspirational peeps like Dean, Rick, John, Ken and Becky. I could go on and on. That’s what makes Missoula great.
